In partnership with EED Research Institute and Climate Compatible Growth (CCG), Nuvoni Centre for Innovation Research convened a workshop that focused on the role that energy planning plays in supporting decision making around systems planning for future energy demand. This event draws together three key research projects that have been undertaken within the CCG programme, which include;
As part of the first project on retrospective overview of energy planning, Nuvoni presented the findings of our ongoing study on “Tracing the Influence of International Energy Modelling Collaborations on Kenya’s Policy Landscape.” In the session, we mapped out how energy planning has evolved over the last 10 years, and drivers that have influenced this. Key discussions centred on the progressive institutionalisation of the LCPDP, the different energy modelling approaches employed, the role of international partners, and resulting capacity development, training & knowledge management. This session also enabled a panel discussion on some key issues raised by the research and recommendations for how this planning ecosystem can sustain and develop in the future.
