David Mugendi Kariuki is an environmental scientist with a
PhD in Environmental Studies from Kenyatta University, focused on oil and gas exploration and sustainable environmental management in the South Lokichar Basin. He holds two Master’s degrees—Environmental Studies from the University of Nairobi and Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety from JKUAT, plus a BSc in Biological
Sciences (Environmental Microbiology major). He is certified in Oil and Gas Waste Management, Municipal Solid Waste Management, GIS, and Air Quality Management.
Currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Nuvoni Research Centre in collaboration with ETH Zurich and Strathmore University, his work centers on CDR technologies, including Direct Air Carbon Capture, enhanced weathering, biochar, agroforestry, and soil carbon sequestration. He previously completed a postdoc on solar e-waste at Kenyatta University and Technical University of Denmark. He is also a NEMA- registered EIA and EA expert in Kenya.
