Lilian Njuguna

CDR Research and Engagement Officer

Lilian Njuguna is a Research and Engagement Officer at Nuvoni Centre for Innovation Research, supporting research on Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR), stakeholder and community engagement, and knowledge translation. Her work focuses on understanding the opportunities and implications of CDR for sustainable development in Africa, while contributing to meaningful dialogue and informed decision-making around emerging climate solutions.

Lilian is an environmental and climate change professional with over nine years of experience spanning carbon markets, carbon project development, monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV), environmental and social assessment, sustainability, and regulatory compliance. She is a NEMA Lead Expert with experience working across nature-based and other carbon projects, including carbon accounting, data quality assurance, audit readiness, environmental assessments, and the application of carbon market frameworks, including Article 6.

She brings a multidisciplinary perspective that combines technical environmental expertise with research, capacity building and stakeholder engagement. Her interests include CDR, carbon markets and governance, climate policy, and inclusive approaches to climate action, with a particular focus on ensuring that research and emerging climate solutions are grounded in local realities and contribute meaningfully to sustainable development.
